Kate Winslet is an embarrassment. She is an embarrassment to winners, to the English, to people in general. I dont know if any of you saw her act last night but it was easily the most annoying thing I have ever seen. EVER! she won two Golden Globes for her acting in The Reader and Revolutionary Road. I am not mad she won. She is a very good actress. Here is my problem. When she won - BOTH TIMES - she went into shock. Her mouth was wide open and just looked around wide eyed like she couldn't believe that she won. She was shaking, her voice quivered, she hyper-ventilated, she kept telling herself to calm down, she kept telling us how shocked she was to win. ENOUGH!
Stop be annoying.
Why are you shocked you won? You were nominated.
Listen, I no longer want to see people go into emotional shock when they win an award. You can be happy and or surprised but don't behave the way Kate Winslet did last night. She was nominated to win an award. She knew she had a 1 in 4 chance of winning. Why is she acting like she had no idea she would win? Listen, if someone who WASN'T nominated miraculously was announced the winner then fine, go crazy. Have an emotional fit up there - that I can understand. But what she did last night was an ridiculous. What made it worse is that she is English. These are the same people who live with a stiff upper lip. The people who lived with poise and calm while being bombing by the Nazi.
If this is the act Kate Winslet is gonna pull at the Oscars I hope she never wins one. I know thats mean to say about a talented actress who deserves to be recognized but act least try to act like a professional.
I completely agree. In fact I Googled "Kate Winslet annoying" to see if anybody else thought her emoting was beyond phony. Thanks for validating.
ReplyDeleteSeems Kate W. has now been nominated for an Oscar, so God alone knows what we'll see and hear from her if she wins. Her Golden Globe speeches were an utter embarrassment; she couldn't have been more OTT if she'd just heard the aliens had landed.

Take a look around you, Kate and the other gushing luvvies, and see what's really important in this world, then maybe you'll be able to accept an award with cool composure and a little bit of dignity.
Bit late on this one but how I agree. She is unbelievably annoying, pretentious, arrogant,vain etc etc. Even dating back to her first wedding when she had bangers and mash for her reception she's always saying how 'normal' she is well prove it Kate and stop this insufferable behaviour take a leaf out of Meryl Streep's book..there's a classy, down to earth, 'normal' lady!

Just because she's english doesn't mean she has to be fucking blase about winning two golden globes an incredible acheivement- Kate's first golden globes by the way despite being nominated seven times in the past 12 years!! So I can only fucking assume -like you did but without any facts- that after twelve years of recieving these nominations she freaked out like she did because she finally won a golden globe and TWO! I'm suprised she didn't piss herself. That's pretty fucking "poised" wouldn't you say? I'm sure fucking sick of people trashing good actors and actresses based on fucking nothing but their assumptions. Kate's dream is to win an Oscar and she believes she is now closer to that dream because of these golden globes. It was a great fucking night for her and she wasn't putting on a show or anything, she was just shocked out of her friggin mind. Or histrionic personality disorder? Hollywood attracts these types of people - and the fan base is absolutely pathetic for buying into it.

ReplyDeleteI feel like most actors/actresses take their vanity too far. Eventually they get a big head and simply won't stop acting, even at the Golden Globes. Now of course, everyone has their own opinion. Some people love her, and some are annoyed by her acting. I, for one, have disliked the films I have viewed involving Kate Winslet. I did enjoy The Mountain Between Us for the most part, but I still felt that the film would have been more pleasurable with another actress in her place. Kate isn't a terrible actress, but I do not believe that she deserved the awards she received at the Golden Globes, or being a nominee.
