What is Upsetting Me Now...

Ear buds. thats what!
I hate ear buds. For those of you who need clarification, ear buds are the ear phones that have little speakers that fit into the inside of your ear. They are the worst invention of all time. Ok. That might be an exaggeration - but they are awful. First off, the sounds quality for any ear buds under 70 dollars sucks. Unless you are listening to a podcast the music sounds awful. especially f you are listening to something with a lot of bass.
Second the things do not stay in your ear. If you are running, turning your head or anything else one of these things are bound to pop out of your ear. Would you put up with a shoe that wouldn't stay on your put if you were running in them. No, of course not.
But thats not my biggest beef with ear buds. My biggest beef is that they hurt like a mofo. Has anyone ever worn a pair of comfortable ear buds. Maybe - if you pay the 200 dollars to get custom ones that fit into your ear. Otherwise you are buying generic 30 dollar ear buds with horrible sounds quality that press against your ear (when they aren't falling out) and causing incredible pain. "Oh great my favorite song just came on my iPod; Too bad my right ear bud has fallen and the left one is so tightly engrained in my other ear that its bleeding."
Just awful.

Second, did you know that when you go sky diving the area to which you descend is called a "drop zone". Are you f'ing kidding me. Like its not scary enough to throw yourself out of a plane but you are telling me that i am hurdling towards something called the "drop zone." Why not just call it "the splatter area" or "the cemetery." Seriously. Call it something more palatable like the "landing zone" or the "safe zone", anything but the "drop zone."

Lastly. There is a new show on CBS. I am not sure if they showing replay but its on Saturday at 8pm. Its called GAME SHOW IN MY HEAD. rather than explain it just check out this four minute clip.

I Cannot Wait For Tonight...

Good food. Good friends. And hopefully a GREAT FIGHT!!!

The Internet Is Not A Reliable Source

You have to take what you read on the internet with a grain of salt. But when I saw this on the internet I knew it was totally bogus:
Taralee Adams is an amazing person with tons of people who love and care about her. So the next time the internet tells you Taralee has no friends - don't listen to it.

Kate Winslet sucks...

Ok,
Kate Winslet is an embarrassment. She is an embarrassment to winners, to the English, to people in general. I dont know if any of you saw her act last night but it was easily the most annoying thing I have ever seen. EVER! she won two Golden Globes for her acting in The Reader and Revolutionary Road. I am not mad she won. She is a very good actress. Here is my problem. When she won - BOTH TIMES - she went into shock. Her mouth was wide open and just looked around wide eyed like she couldn't believe that she won. She was shaking, her voice quivered, she hyper-ventilated, she kept telling herself to calm down, she kept telling us how shocked she was to win. ENOUGH!
Stop be annoying.
Why are you shocked you won? You were nominated.
Listen, I no longer want to see people go into emotional shock when they win an award. You can be happy and or surprised but don't behave the way Kate Winslet did last night. She was nominated to win an award. She knew she had a 1 in 4 chance of winning. Why is she acting like she had no idea she would win? Listen, if someone who WASN'T nominated miraculously was announced the winner then fine, go crazy. Have an emotional fit up there - that I can understand. But what she did last night was an ridiculous. What made it worse is that she is English. These are the same people who live with a stiff upper lip. The people who lived with poise and calm while being bombing by the Nazi.
If this is the act Kate Winslet is gonna pull at the Oscars I hope she never wins one. I know thats mean to say about a talented actress who deserves to be recognized but act least try to act like a professional.

Whopper Sacrifice

I love Burger King. I remember being a kid and walking to USC or the LA Natural History Museum and afterwords going to Burger King, or as my grandpa would jokingly call it, "el rey de los hamburguesas."
Well over the last four years BK has had the absolute best advertising and they may have just topped themselves again. In 2004 they had Subservient Chicken. Commercials and  a website were you could tell a chicken what to do. Then you had the creepy King. The rebelious Whopper Jr. This past winter they introduced us to the Whopper Virgins and the Angry Whopper - which comes with the Angry-gram, a complimentary website were you can send rants and complaints to to friends.
But now they have their most awesome advertising ploy yet - Whopper Sacrifice. Burger King poses the question: "How much are your facebook friends worth to you?" If you are willing to sacrifice 10 of your friends on facebook, Burger King will send you an e-mail for one free whopper (one time only). The friends are not notified that you have deleted them BUT their removal does show up on your facebook news feed. This is such a fun and fresh advertisement. It totally speaks to this generation's weird obsession with social networking. Kudos King. Let the sacrificing begin!

Why is Boyz 2 Men so good?

I have been listening to the II album by Boyz 2 Men and it is a bona fide classic. First off, it s band with a number representing a word and a misspelled word. How hardcore is that!
The album has an a capella version of Yesterday (the most covered song of all time in case you don't know). As well as Water Runs Dry (a vastly underrated Boyz 2 Men song).
Lets not forget On Bended Knee. "Can we go back to the days our love was strong/can you tell me how a perfect love goes wrong/ cant somebody tell me how to get things back/the way they used to be/ Oh, God give me the reason/ I'm down on bended knee." I can hear the ladies screaming already.
To top it all off "I'll Make Love to You." Remember being 12 and feeling like that song was coming on the radio every ten minutes. Well it was; and rightfully so.

Online dating services...

Online dating... and no I am not talking about escorts.

E-harmony, j-date, match.com, the list goes on and on. Over the last 10 years the idea of meeting the love of your life online has become more and more normal. I just have one question.

Why?

I understand that for some people meeting others online is an attractive idea. You get to do it from home. There is no awkward forced date, or club cover charge to pay, and you get to move beyond idle chit chat and get to meet the "real" person. Here is one of my many problems.
First, isn't viewing a profile based on an hour long survey someone had to take awkward. Isnt even more awkward to tell them that you "aren't interested" based on that profile. When did we become a society that was afraid to reject people face to face? I would much rather have a woman reject me in person (and believe me - they have), rather than be notified over email that a woman I have never seen has decided that their "just isnt any chemistry". Are you f'ing kidding me???!!!

Second, I have to pay for a computer to potentially match me with someone! At least when I go to a bar and don't meet anyone my money goes towards the slow poisoning/numbing of my body through the consumption of alcohol. Advantage trying to meet someone face to face.

Third, why should I trust a computer to match me with somebody? If a computer cannot get the College Football Championship Game right how in the heck am I supposed to expect it to find my true love. Oklahoma versus Florida. Are you kidding me!?!?! If thats the kind of garbage match making computers are capable of count me out of online dating.

In summary, the internet is many things to me. It's where I get my e-mail. It's where I can rant online. It's where can keep in touch with friends. It's where I read my news. It's were I can view pornography without embarrassment. The one thing that the internet is not however, is cupid. Here is to face to face interaction and rejection, to bad pick up lines, spending money I dont have at the bar, mindless chatter, trying desperately not to embarrass myself dancing and all the other wonderful things that meeting people should entail.

viva la romance!

1st two job applications in...

So I have applied to the following two schools so far:

The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
ND is an independent catholic university located 90 minutes outside of Chicago. I am applying to be a Rector (akin to be a Residence Hall Director). The largest res hall there has under 200 students and a good number of the students (between 50 and 25 percent) live in singles (lets here it for no roommate conflicts!).

The University of New Hampshire in Durahm, NH
UNH is a public university with a student population of about 14,000. They contacted me via e-mail shortly after I posted my resume on the NASPA website. Looking forward to seeing what they are all about. In the meantime I did research the weather - as of tonight its 17 degrees in good ol New Hampshire (nick name the Granite State - probably because everyone freezes into some sort of hard rock substance in the winter).
